Suggested day-by-day itinerary

This journey centres on the Bhagirathi valley and Gangotri Temple, with Uttarkashi as a useful overnight base for the long mountain approach.

Day 1

Drive from Haridwar to Uttarkashi and rest.

Day 2

Travel through Harsil to Gangotri for darshan; return to Harsil or Uttarkashi for the night.

Day 3

Descend to Haridwar, allowing a full day for the road.

What the package can include

A private vehicle can travel from Haridwar through Uttarkashi to the Gangotri road access. Choose hotels in the valley to break the drive and confirm whether meals are included.

What is not automatically included

Gomukh trekking permissions, a trekking guide, park charges, offerings and optional excursions are separate from a temple road trip unless the quote states otherwise.

Route and how to reach

Haridwar → Uttarkashi → Harsil → Gangotri. Allow two mountain driving days and check the road status; exact distance and time depend on the pickup point and overnight halt.

Travel from Haridwar or Rishikesh toward Uttarkashi, then continue by mountain road through the upper Bhagirathi valley. Dehradun pickup is possible; timing depends on weather and road regulation.

Best time and opening dates

Gangotri Temple follows an annually announced temple season. We check the official notice for your dates and allow for mountain weather in the route.

For a shrine journey, use the official Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal for applicable registration and notices. Gangotri Temple’s dates are announced each season. Complete applicable Tourist Care registration and check any separate permissions before considering a trek beyond the temple.

Price and booking

Request a Gangotri quote that distinguishes temple sightseeing from any Gomukh trek, and confirms the hotel stop, vehicle and meal plan.
