Suggested day-by-day itinerary

The Yamunotri itinerary pairs a Barkot side road journey with the separate Janki Chatti walking approach; the return should leave time for rest.

Day 1

Depart Haridwar for Barkot or a nearby overnight halt.

Day 2

Drive to Janki Chatti, continue to Yamunotri for darshan and return to Barkot.

Day 3

Travel back to Haridwar.

What the package can include

Hotel nights around Barkot or the approach area and a private mountain vehicle can be arranged. Tell us if a closer stay is important for an early trek start.

What is not automatically included

Any pony, porter or palki service on the Yamunotri path, hot spring offerings, meals outside the agreed plan and unexpected road delay costs are separate unless itemised.

Route and how to reach

Haridwar → Barkot → Janki Chatti → Yamunotri. The temple is approximately a 6 km walk from Janki Chatti according to the temple committee; allow time for the return and changing mountain weather.

From Haridwar the road heads toward Barkot and Janki Chatti; the final shrine approach is on foot or by locally available assistance. Rishikesh or Dehradun pickup changes the first day’s distance.

Best time and opening dates

Yamunotri Temple follows an annually announced temple season. We check the official notice for your dates and allow for mountain weather in the route.

For a shrine journey, use the official Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal for applicable registration and notices. Yamunotri’s opening and closing dates vary by year. Confirm the official shrine notice, register for the visit and check the Janki Chatti approach conditions.
